NON-PROFIT MARKETING PLAN
Urban Surf 4 Kids
URBAN SURF 4 KIDS MARKETING PLAN
I had the opportunity to work closely alongside with Roxanne and Amy, the executive director and program manager of Urban Surf 4 Kids. Urban Surf 4 Kids is a non-profit organization that focuses on helping kids overcome their fears through surf therapy and mentorship. As their mission statement states, they provide opportunities for healing and empowerment through surf therapy, mentorship, and life skills achievement programs for youth in foster and at-risk communities.
Throughout my last semester in university, I created a 1-year marketing plan that is tailor made for the services of Urban Surf 4 Kids. This plan covers the internal and external environments of the organization, and ends with recommendations down through much research and analyzation. Being able to work with an organization that has such an impact on the community was a joy. It brought me so much joy to be able to witness the success stories that come from the impact that this organization has on those around them.
NON-PROFIT REFLECTION VIDEO
As the end of my college career, I got the chance to spend time meditating and reflecting on my experience with Urban Surf 4 Kids. This video explains a little bit of the process acquiring a non-profit organization for this project, and I express the different ways I applied critical thinking through the learning process.
MARKETING CONSULTANT
Tru Bru Organic Coffee
MARKETING RESEARCH REPORT
Over the course of the semester, my partner and I partnered with Nick Kassouf, owner of Tru Bru Organic Coffee, to conduct intensive marketing research for his company. To start off the project, Athena and I went to Tru Bru a few times out of the week to conduct personal customer interviews to gain information on what questions to ask on the survey. From there, we conducted and administered a focus group of 8 people who have been to a coffee shop before. After all our research, we began the survey design process. We had 5 sections on this survey that would help us get a better understanding of what customer's perception is of Tru Bru.

In the time allotted, we collected a total of 147 surveys and then began our data entry and analysis through a survey software called SurveyPro. During this analysis, we created a detailed report with graphs and charts that explained the data from the customer feedback survey. We included what was most valuable and effective for Tru Bru.
The purpose of this research project is to provide Nick Kassouf with a specific and detailed analysis of preferences, attitudes, and desires, as well as input on new product and service ideas for Tru Bru. This project contains graphs and figures that explain specific marketing strategies that would potentially help Tru Bru to improve.
CUSTOMER FEEDBACK SURVEY
Here is the example of the survey that we designed for Tru Bru.
FOCUS GROUP
Here is a moment from our focus group that we conducted. We had a total of 8 participants who have all been to a coffee shop but never to Tru Bru.
Tru Bru Marketing Research Report
Athena and I set up a meeting with Nick to present to him our finding from the marketing research report that we conducted. It was so rewarding and we loved to see the excitement that Nick had on his face about the whole report. The report highlighted many of Tru Bru's strengths and revealed some areas that would be more valuable to the customer if they were strengthened.
TARGET MARKET PROJECT
Acai Bowl Industry
The purpose of this project was to get a better understanding of what marketing is and learn what it feels like to step into the shoes of a real marketer. The project entailed learning about a specific industry of choice and becoming an expert in that specific field as though you were the one opening up a business in that industry. As the entrepreneur, I had to research the whole marketing environment of a specific industry, explore two competitors and do an analysis of it. I then created my own business in that industry and explained why my business would be successful against the competition. I chose the Acai Bowl industry because I am passionate about healthy living and about the joy it brings to the community.
